Online teaching Practice-week 3 : Diagnostic Test and Remedial Teaching

Last week of my online teaching session was more memorable than the other days. My students became more attached to me after each classes. They began to ask me doubts without any hesitation . I was also having an invisible connection with them. After the achievement test I diagnosed some common problems among the students regarding the concept of conjunction so I prepared a diagnostic test to confirm their weaker areas after that I conducted a remedial teaching session for them . Some of the photos included in the ppt is given below.
When I look back towards the first day of online teaching practice to today's I could feel immense transformation in me. I learned how to adapt to different situation. I experience a mixture of attitude among my girls and through that learned the competency to adjust and cope up with situations. In short I consider this opportunity as a blessing to mold myself to a better and inspiring teaching.

I had gone through a peaceful session throughout this week. My students attitude towards online teaching had a slight change. They attended the class and gave timely response to whenever I started to ask them any questions related to the lesson. I was happy because of this reason. Since I finished two lessons within the two weeks i.e 'The Jungle Air Crash' and 'On Killing a Tree' it was time to conduct an achievement test. I prepared a 25 marks test and conducted it . Students attended the test and I noted their performance.

Self Reflection
Today was my last peer teaching session. My final class was about pronoun for that I used the direct instructional model. Firstly I created an informal interaction with the students and checked their previous knowledge. I gave them a set of sentences and asked them to identify the nouns. They effortlessly identified the nouns. Later I introduced pronoun and described it using different examples. I introduced different activities to motivate learning them. Overall my peer teaching session went well. Because of the active participation of the students, all the concepts were taken without any effort. It was actually a brilliant and eye-wetting experience for me.

Self Reflection
My second last peer teaching session was also based on a model that was concept attainment. I taught verb using this model for presenting it chart and powerpoint presentations were used. Firstly I created an informal interaction with the students. Then I divided the class into 2 groups and they were provided with a set of words and asked them to paste it in the space provided in the table. They later examined it and find out common features in both tables. For making the concept more clear I played a verb song and guided them to sing it. Students sang the song interestingly. For giving them more experience and by providing 2 columns I asked them to point out the difference and that's how I gave the concept of verb. I also tested whether the concept was clear through an activity. Students later wrote examples of verbs on their own by providing positive and negative examples. It contained strong elements of instructional and nurtural value. The overall model lesson gave a positive impact on my teaching experience.

Self reflection
After finishing the regular lesson plan I started my model lessons today. I took the topic verbs and i used advance organizer model for teaching it. I started the class by establishing an informal interaction with the students. Since student hated grammar, I included activities to create more interest in them. When I checked their previous knowledge of students about nouns and pronouns and they gave positive responses. they easily identified noun and pronoun. after creating some classroom situations teacher introduced adjectives. I called out students and asked them to identify the features of lemon. They identified it and thats how I described what an adjective is. Even though it was a highly structured model a good collaboration between me and my students made the class more effective and learner friendly

SELF REFLECTION
Previous classes and its experienced taught me about the deep involvement of students to do activities so for my sixth peer teaching session. I took the 9th and 10th paragraph from the lesson the school for sympathy. I provided 4 strips in which I wrote blind deaf dumb and lame and asked student to come forward and act according to the chosen strip. This activity easily help not only me but also my peer group to link easily with the todays portion. They actively listened throughout the class and all the answers were given correctly when scaffolding questions were asked.
My principal came for my observation today .She suggested me to be more energetic I will correct all my flaws and bring more power in to my class from next session onwards.

SELF REFLECTION
The real life experience of Rosa Park was my topic for 11th peer teaching. Her attitude towards the unfair rule in America was the key point of discussion .I got the time from 10:30 - 11 AM to take my class and for that I took ' Rosa Park Sat Still ' as the lesson.
After creating a good rapport teacher shows some pictures and was asked to identify the pictures. Those pictures were taken from the so far covered portion .By establishing a clear cut link I gave a detailed explanation which include discussion of meaning also. I demonstrated the word stirred and students easily identified it and some other words were also discussed similarly. They even asked me certain words which I explained in detail when they were asked to prepare a speech on racism one of the student brilliantly presented her version. I was so happy to hear that this actually helped me to maintain positive attitude to teach within the class.

SELF REFLECTION
I was very glad today because my tenth peer teaching class introduced the character and effort taken by Rosa Park.-The first lady of the civil right movement. In this rapid growing society need for ones right should be considered with due importance .So I look the remaining of the lesson ' Rosa Parks Sat Still ' which I started to discuss in the last class.
For creating a rapport some statement related to the previously learned lesson was given to the students and were asked to find the correct one. This helped to link the lesson clearly. Different word meanings were cleared using PPT and when the scaffolding questions were raised students gave the correct answers. Students were then asked to prepare a slogan .The interestingly prepared on and keenly observed my version. Because of their cooperation and whole hearted participation todays class was also completed peacefully.

SELF REFLECTION
For my 9th peer teaching session, third paragraph from the lesson 'Rosa park sat still' was taken. Since it was taught yesterday ,entry activity was prepared based on that portion. Opposite of the words taught in the last class were included .Students easily identified it.
My class was scheduled from 9:30 -10:30 am today. I took exactly 30 min to complete the whole lesson. Certain words like break ,thought etc. were demonstrated by the teacher . Other words were explained using ppt students gave correct answers for all the scaffolding questions for discourse advertisement preparation was given to them. They actively participated in it .The happiness reflected on their face after the class made me happy too.

SELF REFLECTION
Eighth peer teaching lesson was successfully completed today. Today I started to teach them a new lesson titled 'Rosa Park sat still' from the third unit seeds and deeds. Opening paragraph was taken for explanation today.
Today my general subject teaches came for observing my class. She gave comments after observing my class .She gave good comments after observing my class .I forgot to show the teachers version of discourse activity so it was pointed out as a mistake .My peer group responded well to my class. They actively participated throughout the class which made my class more lively.
